What effects does excessive humidity have on base paper?
Excessive humidity may have the following effects on base paper:
Water absorption and expansion: Base paper is hygroscopic. When exposed to a high humidity environment, the paper may absorb a lot of water and expand. This expansion may cause the paper to become soft and easily deformed.
Loss of strength: A high humidity environment will reduce the strength and stability of the base paper. After absorbing water, the paper may become soft, lose some of its original strength, and be easily torn or damaged.
Mold and rot: A high humidity environment is an ideal condition for the growth of mold and bacteria. Base paper exposed to a high humidity environment for a long time may be affected by mold and rot, resulting in mold spots and brown rot on the surface of the paper, which seriously affects the quality of the paper.
Reduced printing quality: A high humidity environment may cause the surface of the paper to become wet and rough, which will affect the printing quality. The ink may not be easily absorbed, resulting in poor printing results, or even ink smudges or blurs.
Paper deformation: High humidity will make the base paper soft, prone to wavy or curled, and lose its original flatness.
Blurred patterns: In high humidity environments, the surface of the base paper may become damp, causing the printed patterns or text to be blurred. Quality degradation: In general, high humidity environments will reduce the quality and stability of the base paper, making it unsuitable for some application scenarios that require high paper quality.

What should I do if the base paper is wavy or curled? 
If the base paper is wavy or curled, you can take the following measures to deal with it:
Adjust environmental conditions: Make sure the environmental conditions for storing the base paper are suitable and avoid excessive humidity or temperature. Keeping the room dry and ventilated can help reduce the moisture absorption and deformation of the paper. Flattening: Lay the wavy or curled base paper flat on a flat surface, and then use appropriate weights or clamps to fix it to restore the paper to flatness. 
Wet treatment: If the base paper is too dry and curled, you can slightly wet the surface of the paper, then lay it flat and fix it. At appropriate humidity, the paper may regain some softness, thereby reducing the curling.
 Use heating equipment: For mild wavy or curled, you can use appropriate heating equipment, such as a heat gun or a heating plate, to heat the paper to help reduce or eliminate the curling. 
Prevent repeated damage: After handling the wavy or curled base paper, it should be stored in a dry and flat environment to avoid being affected by humidity or temperature changes again.
Paper handling equipment: If available, you can use specialized paper handling equipment, such as a heat press flattener, to treat the curled base paper and restore it to a flat surface.
Consult professionals: If the above methods cannot solve the problem, you can consult paper processing professionals or suppliers for more specific solutions and suggestions.
